The Cuaba brand is quite a new cigar which has been launched in 1996, by the then Habanos president Francisco Linares. The brand has been launched at Claridge's Hotel in London, Great Britain, in an attempt to revive figurados which were very popular in the early 20th century, but have suffered a serious decline in the fifties.
The first Cuabas had various shapes within the same box, because there was no mold to press them at that time, they are now considered a honey pie for the cigar collectors. However, a year later Habanos invented the mold which was used to press Cuabas, and start releasing them box-pressed from that year.
The Cuaba brand is intended for smokers who like medium bodied cigars, and enjoy the figurado shape which is hardly to roll and demands high skills from the rollers. The entire range is known for mostly flavorful nuances, with earthy and woody hints.
The brand doesn't have lots of vitolas, that's why they are easy to remember. These are Diademas, Distinguidos, Exclusivos, Generosos, Salomones, Tradicionales and Divinos. All cigars are in the figurado shape, and have similar dimensions. The largest vitolas from the brand are the Diademas and the Distinguidos with such lengths as 233 mm and 162 mm, and ring gauges 55 and 52, accordingly.
