Fonseca is another brand that was created in the early 1900's, namely, in 1906, by Francisco Fonseca whose image still adorns the Fonseca cigar boxes.
Did you know that the founder of this brand was a very handsome man who really cared for his appearance, and so he cared about the cigars that he created? So, each Fonseca box is adorned in a silky tissue paper, with a picture of Senior Francisco on each on them.
The trademark has been registered in 1907, and is one of the pre-revolutionary brands that continued their manufacture after the Cuban Revolution. It is classified by the Habanos S.A. as a multi-local brand, and is produced in small quantities. That's why they are so hard to find sometimes.
The Fonseca Cuban cigars are currently manufactured in Quivican, a small town in the province of Havana. The brand is usually released in boxes of 25 cigars, with only one of them being also released in a pack of 5 cigars, which is the Cosacos cigar.
The Fonseca cigars that could be also found at My-Cuban-Cigars.com are as follows:
The Cadetes (kdt) cigars with the size Tres Petit Corona/Perla and dimensions and a ring gauge 36 and length 115 mm. This is the smallest Fonseca cigar that could be advised to a beginner smoker; the Cosacos cigar with the Corona shape, and following dimensions - a ring gauge 42 and length 135 mm. These cigars are also released in a pack of 5; the No. 1 cigar with the Cazadores vitola, and such dimensions as ring gauge 44 and length 162 mm; and the last cigar which is the Delicias, with the Petit Corona/Mareva shape and a ring gauge 40, with length 123 mm.
