As the majority of Cuban cigar brands, the Trinidad brand has remained unknown until recently, though Trinidad cigars were first made in 1969 and even handed out to diplomats as gifts. The sophisticated blend, considered to have a medium strength by the experts, was created by the most experienced cigar rollers of the El Laguito factory in Havana.
The brand went abroad at the start of the new millenium, when Habanos S.A. launched Trinidad for general consumption at a launching ceremony in the Habana Libre Hotel in Havana. The cigars that were released initially came only in one size: the Fundador.
However, Trinidad expanded its product line soon after that by introducing three new sizes at a black tie dinner in London: the Coloniale, the Reyes, and the Robusto Extra.
Unlike other Cuban cigars, Trinidad comes in boxes of natural cedar of 24 and 50 cigars. Moreover, the Robusto Extra (15.5/1.99 cm), the Coloniales (13.2/1.75 cm) and the Reyes (11/1.59 cm) are absolutely unique vitolas that are not offered by other Habanos brands. This only emphasizes the unique character of this company which bears the name of the city of Trinidad, Cuba.
