This company was not always named Saint Luis Rey. When the company was founded around the Second World War, it was registered under the name Zamora y Guerra. However, it has come to be known as Saint Luis Rey nowadays.
Some people think that the brand received its current name from Thornton Wilder's play "The Bridge of San Luis Rey" which enjoyed popularity back then. However, the likelier version is that it bears the name of the San Luis town which is located at the centre of the fertile Vuelta Abajo district where the finest tobacco in the world is grown (particularly known for the superb wrapper leaves grown there).
Whatever version is true, Saint Luis Rey cigars are appreciated among cigar aficionados for their intense flavor. They are rolled using tobacco leaves from the world-known Vuelta Abajo region and the Semi- Vuelta region which adjoins the Vuelta Abajo on the east.
Saint Luis Rey cigars include six vitolas - the Saint Luis Rey Coronas, the Saint Luis Rey Churchills, the Saint Luis Rey Double Coronas, the Saint Luis Rey Lonsdales, the Saint Luis Rey Petit Coronas, the Saint Luis Rey Regios and the Saint Luis Rey Serie A. All sizes are made "Totalmente a mano, tripa larga", meaning that they are made by hand using long filler (as all high-end cigars).
These cigars are produced at the Romeo Y Julieta factory and are quite similar to the latter cigars. Their distinctive features include a full-bodied, highly-refined flavor and oily, smooth wrappers. You can try them at our store My-Cuban-Cigars.com together with Romeo y Julieta cigars which are produced at the same facility.
