The history of this brand is quite symbolic - it was named after San Cristobal de La Habana, the original name of the Cuban capital which dates back to 1519. In its turn, the capital was named in honor of Christopher Columbus - or, in Spanish, San Cristobal. When the city was established, the colonists wanted to name it San Cristobal and the native Indians - La Habana.
To commemorate the 480th anniversary of the founding of this beautiful city caressed by warm, tropical waters, Habanos S.A. decided to launch a new line of cigars. It is the latest and perhaps the last of the lines of Havana brands launched in the last century.
Since 1999, San Cristobal has been produced in the heart of the famous tobacco growing district of Vuelta Abajo, at the La Corona factory. It's interesting that before the Revolution, there was a cigar brand with the same name, but today's Trinidad brand is not its successor.
The brand offers four vitolas, each of which bears the name of one of the fronts that did not let any enemies enter the city at the height of one's glory - El Morro, La Fuerza, La Punta, and El Principe. Two of the vitolas, La Fuerza and El Morro, are completely unique and produced only by the San Cristobal brand.
Habanos S.A. plans on expanding the San Cristobal series by including the line of the greatest parks of La or La Habana's contemporary Cuban painters or monuments. As soon as they get launched, you will be able to get them from My-Cuban-Cigars.com, and for now, you can try the old vitolas!
